Today we celebrate World Malaria Day! On this day, the malaria community recognises and celebrates global efforts to beat the world’s oldest and deadliest disease through numerous events held around the world.
Collaboration sits at the heart of the malaria fight so today is all about mobilising global and local leaders, civil society, the private sector, academic institutions and communities to take action to end malaria.
This year, the Rollback Malaria (RBM) Partnership is celebrating World Malaria Day in the heart of Paris, with the theme #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe, in order to shine a light on the over 300 million people at risk of malaria in Francophone countries. The campaign that aims to keep malaria high on the political agenda, mobilise resources, and empower communities to take ownership of malaria prevention and care.
In the run-up to the Global Fund Replenishment this October, also in France, it is even more important that we use today’s celebrations to draw global attention to malaria and the need for urgent action. Malaria must die, and we can be the generation that makes it happen.
